Addicted to Froggy?

We received this cute little froggy stuffed animal from a neighbor we don't even know. We came home one afternoon with a present in our door jam with a cute little outfit and a froggy to match. We started to use it to measure Kaden's growth. At two weeks old Kaden was just a little bit bigger than the frog.At eight weeks he looks like the frog is 2/3 his size.

The frog is about half his size at 12 weeks...today Kaden is 16 weeks old and we think he's a little addicted to this frog. He plays with it all the time. Loves to eat it's legs!!! He cuddles with it when he's tired. And so we went into a panic mode. We were thinking if this becomes his "lovie" (in Vietnamese his "ghien") we better be prepared. We have been around too many kids who lose their "lovie" and the parents can't do anything to console the kids. A lot of people we know have tried to buy multiple ones of whatever a blankie or cuddly and they discontinued them or were from a specialty shop or something. So, we KNEW we have seen the frog at Target. Joel goes on the adventure to find some more frogs. He goes to two Targets and they said they don't carry them anymore! Then we REALLY panicked! We call some Carter stores and look online. Online failed us. Carter said they had some frogs... so, Joel packed up Kaden and journeyed out to Troutdale Outlet Mall... wrong frogs! We are out of luck!!! Joel has bought some friends for froggy... a little doggie and a little bear. Same brand, material, look...so...we hoped that it wasn't the actual frog he is attached to...but maybe the type of toy it is. And Lisa makes one last attempt to stop at the Target near her work... and volia! THREE OF THEM!!! So she bought them ALL!!! Now Kaden has many friends. We are going to keep some of the frog's tags on just in case we don't need them... we can spread the froggy lovie around. :-) That was a close call!!! Here's a pic of Kaden and ALL his new friends!!!! Hehehe!!!

Just Keep Rolling!!!

Being parents has many joys... One of our favorites is hearing and seeing Kaden laugh. He is such a happy baby. Even when he is crying he will crack a smile.

Another joy is watching him develop into a little person.
Being that Lisa majored in Sociology and Joel's undergrad was
Human Development and Family Science; we just love
to see our choice of studies come to life. (yeah a little geeky)

Kaden has just learned to roll from his back to his tummy!
So now he can roll over both ways. We can't just leave him anymore... we really have to watch him.

Check it out... These videos are the best!

Lisa tries to make him roll, but he gets the giggles.
(this video's a little long {3 min.} but worth it!)

Then he start to roll after we shut off the camera.

You gotta get one of these if you don't have one yet!
haa haaa....

Maybe I'm Weird

Joel ~writing

I know normally you are kept in the dark about who is writing.
Even though I'm sure you can figure out who is writing because
mine and Lisa's styles are so different.

Anyway, I'm wondering if it's weird that I visit this blog regularly
just to look at Kaden's pictures. My son is so stinking cute.
(He must get it from his mother...)

Seriously I come back to this blog at least once or twice
just to look at my boy. Even though I am home with him
and can look at him live!
Life is so fun with him. Lisa and I will lay on the bed with him
and poke him and prod him to make him smile
and it never gets old. It is such an amazing experience.

I wonder if that is how God is with us.
Does he just look at us and get that warm feeling inside?
I hope so... I hope God just takes pleasure in gazing at us and watching us smile.

THREE MONTHS!!!!!!

Wow...Kaden is officially three months old. We cleaned out some of his clothes to hand down to soon to be "cousins" and couldn't believe Kaden actually fit some of those outfits-they looked tiny compared to him now!!! Hhehehe!!! He holds his head up really well...pushes his feet like he wants to crawl... he has flipped from his tummy to back a few times. It's fun to watch all of his expressions and how much he loves to "talk" to us!

Time sure flies by. Kaden is such a joy in our lives. Kaden has a passport! He took his first trip out of the country-We journeyed to Vancouver, BC for Uncle John and Co Jerry's wedding... it was a beautiful ceremony and fun reception. Kaden slept through both so that we could eat a ton and enjoy the ceremony! :-) Congrats guys!!! We were very excited to be a part of your wedding day!!!

We are almost done with the basement! We moved our room downstairs so that we can enjoy the basement more. We also have students staying with us so they are upstairs in the bedrooms there. So, if you come visit us in the next three months, come around to the back entrance!

Summer is getting hot... and the pool is open. :-) Please continue to pray for us and our future as Joel is trying to finish up this summer term of classes. The sun is not helping his study habits at all. Pray for Lisa as she has a full schedule and really just wants to hang out with her boys. :-)

You Won't Believe This!

We couldn't believe it... We thought it might be a fluke.
But it wasn't. It happened twice. Then on the third time Joel
caught it on tape!!!! Take a look at our Big Boy!

4th of July!!!

We went to Nappy & Annett's for the 4th this year.
This is our first time spending the 4th relaxing...
Usually we are helping Joel's mom & dad selling food,
but with Kaden this year they let us off the hook.

The 4th of July celebration at Nappy & Annett's lived up to
the hype. Food, Friends, Fire Works, and a Frenzy of Fun!!!!

They Grow So Fast

We made another whirlwind trip to Seattle. We were able to attend Hoi Dong (District Conference) for a day to see old friends and grandma got to show off her first grandson! Everyone was there! Uncle Peter and Auntie Lily came up from California and we hung out with Uncle Trong at the park for a picnic. That was defiantly an experience on Capital Hill. We got to see cousin Kaleb and how big he's gotten. Kaden and Kaleb wrestled and gave each other funny looks. Soon enough they will be running around making trouble! We are glad to be home in Portland, but it's always fun to see family and friends. Kaden is growing so fast, he's almost 15 pounds, 24 inches long. He doesn't really like the heat right now...we might have to go invest in an air condition unit soon. Kaden has the cutest giggles and laughs. But he always freezes when we pull out the camera to tape it. We love being parents, Kaden is such a great baby. Thanks for all your loves and prayers.
