Chu Jono & Co Amy's House Warming

We went over to visit one of Kaden's favorite Uncle and Aunty.
Kaden calls them by their Vietnamese titles;
 Chu (uncle) & Co (auntie).
Jono & Amy are Asian on the inside!

Kaden put on his safari clothes to keep from burning in the sun
and then we headed over for the festivities.

It was a meat-fest with at least 4 different types of meat grilled to perfection.

Jono & Amy cracked open a XXL Bottle of Bubbly!
(one they have been saving for a big party!)
The bottle of champaign was something like 4 liters.
It was a fun day of celebrating their new house and Amy's Birthday.

First Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to You! Happy Father's Day to You! Happy Father's Day dear daddy Joel...Happy Father's Day to YOU!!!!

We heart you! You are doing a great job being Kaden's daddy!!!!

Sleep Time @ the To house...

Night time at our house is fun.
We have been reading Bible stories to Kaden before bedtime.
The Bible was a gift from Auntie Lori for Kaden's one month Birthday.
We hope that this will build a love for God's Word in Kaden.
Sometimes Kaden makes funny faces when he sleeps.
He was doing this when we decided to try and tape it.
He decided not to cooperate.
(It is not a normal thing for us to wake our child when he is sleeping...)

Say Hi Kaden!

The grandparents call regularly to hear Kaden on the phone, but wish they could see him at the same time. We decided to post this clip so they can get their Kaden fix.

TWO MONTHS OLD!!!

Kaden is two months old! Wow... he's growing so much. He has his two month check up on Friday. Any guesses on how much he weights or how long he is? All I know is he's stinkin' heavy! Heheh! He has been "talking" a lot more lately, smiling when played with, and eating a lot! He doesn't care much for his pacifier lately and has been going for his hand. Which we want to stay away away from. He's growing so fast...

Celebrating With Family ~ Part III + I

Updating this blog gets crazy...
We can't believe how busy we get and how time flies. We didn't get to finish last weekend's story.
We left off visiting baby Kaleb and heading back to Portland. On Sunday morning Lisa woke early to help our good friends Tracy and Tom with their wedding. Tom & Tracy's wedding was a great celebration with friends from all over driving and flying in. Kaden was wonderful, behaving himself and allowing Aunties and Uncles hold him while we helped out.
Congratulations once again Mr. & Mrs. Smith!

Celebrating With Family ~ Part III

After Kaden's party we went over to Steve and Ly's house. They had their second child Kaleb the week before and we're excited to see the boys grow up and get in trouble together. Lisa and Ly have always talked about having their kids grow up together like they had and now they can see it happen.
These boys look like trouble already!!!

Who's more trouble the mommies or the babies?

Celebrating With Family ~ Part II

Kaden is an amazing traveler... The baby was fast asleep as we left the fun in Portland. He slept from the time we hit the freeway until the time we got off! Literally as soon as we pulled onto the exit ramp he began to wake up.

Friday night Lisa and Kaden spent time with the Grandma and the girls while Joel went and played basketball with the guys.

Early Saturday morning we woke to the stirring of Lisa's mom and auntie preparing for Kaden's big party. This party seemed bigger and more elaborate then our wedding!(by the way it will be 4yrs next week...)

By mid-afternoon the Tran clan had arrived. It was a day full of crazy fun. That's what we can come to expect When Lisa's family gets together. (ok when either of our families get together!)
Here are some hi-lights!

Uncles and Aunties
Food, Food, Food, and um... yes Food!
More Uncles & Aunties & some Cousins too...
Great Uncles & Great Aunties...(Look at Kaden's Face. Enough said?)
Crazy People!!! (o.k. Joel and Joey giving Kyle shock therapy)

Money!!!

What a fun weekend... Kaden was beat! Oh wait the weekend isn't over. Did I forget to tell you this was only Saturday afternoon. We still have to visit Kaden's new friend Kaleb and then drive back to Portland to make it to Auntie Tracy & Uncle Tom's wedding on Sunday! Stay Tuned for Part III and Part III +I.

Celebrating With Family ~ Part I

Kaden had a healthy dose of family last weekend! We were unexpectantly surprised when Joel's dad called on a Wednesday night and announced they were coming up for the weekend! Yippee!! But we had already made plans to head up to Seattle for a big "One Month Party." (I know he's 8 weeks now, but who's counting.)

Any way so we changed our plans because Joel's parents don't get up to Portland that often and plus he had convinced Joel's cousins from the Bay Area to take a trek up and visit Kaden and the rest of the To Family in Portland.

On Friday morning the To clan made their way to Portland to start the weekend of fun. It was so great to see the cousins. It has been almost 3 years since we had seen Lam, Seon,  Brandon and Hannah.   The kids are so big and so bright. They are a blast to hang out with.

We went to lunch at one of our favorite Vietnamese eateries ~ Pho Hung. (that's a tip for all of you that ask what a good Viet place to eat is) We filled our stomachs and then went over to AT & Thu's (Joel's middle sister's) We figured the kids could see their crazy cousins and play hard there and we were right!!
A water war seemed to break out while we were visiting... It didn't become North against South like you may have thought. I became everyone against Little Nathan! I know it sounds mean, but most of the time Nathan ask for it when he declares all out war on anyone who comes close to him yelling "Naa naa naa naa... You Can't Get Me!"

We wished we could stay longer but we did have a party to get to in Seattle. So after an afternoon of playing and hanging out with Joel's side of the family we jumped into the Honda Fit and drove up to Seattle to begin the party with Lisa's side. Stay tuned for Part II.
